Meet John O’Dor
Director & Senior Financial Adviser
Authorised Representative No. 285083
After more than 25 years in financial planning, I’ve learned that most people don’t need more information — they need confidence that they’re making the right decisions.
Over the years, I’ve helped many individuals and couples prepare for retirement, make informed decisions about their super, manage retirement income, plan their legacy, protect and build confidence in their financial future.
My philosophy is simple:
When people clearly understand their options, they make better financial decisions.
That’s why I established Strategic Advice.
My role is to help you understand your options, explain the implications in plain English, and provide the clarity, care and guidance you need to move forward with confidence.
My Approach
Financial advice shouldn’t leave you feeling overwhelmed.
I believe the best advice is thoughtful, straightforward and easy to understand.
That means taking the time to understand what’s important to you, listening before offering advice, and explaining every recommendation in plain English.
I want you to understand not only what I’m recommending, but why I’m recommending it, so you can make informed decisions with confidence.
Why Strategic Advice?
I deliberately built Strategic Advice as a boutique financial planning practice because I believe advice should remain personal.
When you become a client, you’ll work directly with me — not be passed between advisers and relationship managers.
By keeping the practice intentionally boutique, I’m able to build genuine long-term relationships and provide advice that’s tailored to your circumstances and focused on what matters most to you.
You’ll have an adviser who knows your story, understands your goals, and is there to help guide you through the important financial decisions that life inevitably brings.
Beyond Financial Advice
Outside work, my greatest enjoyment comes from spending time with my wife and three daughters.
Much of our weekends revolve around horse-jumping competitions, and when life slows down, you’ll usually find me boating on the Gold Coast waterways, firing up the BBQ, or enjoying good food and wine with family and friends.
Those experiences are a constant reminder that financial planning isn’t simply about growing wealth.
It’s about creating the freedom, opportunities, and peace of mind to spend more time with the people who matter most, enjoy the experiences, and live life on your terms.
Let’s Start a Conversation
Choosing a financial adviser is an important decision.
If you’re looking for clear, straightforward advice and would like to explore whether we’re the right fit, I’d welcome the opportunity to meet with you — either in person across South-East Queensland or online anywhere in Australia — for a friendly, no-obligation conversation.
